Security features
Security features can help you to tell if your Two hundred euro note is fake or real.
Feel the new 200 euro note
1.The banknote paper consists of pure cotton fiber, which feels crisp and firm (not limp or waxy).
2. Raised print
Feel the banknote. Run your finger across the front of the note. You can feel a series of short raised lines on the left and right edges. They make it easy to identify the banknote, especially for visually impaired people. The main image, the large value numeral and the lettering also feel thicker.
Look at the banknote against the light
1. Watermark
A faint image becomes visible and shows the portrait of Europa, the value of the banknote and the window. If you put the 200 Euro note on the dark surface, the light areas become darker. This effect is easy to see in the value numeral in the top-right part of the watermark. The watermark can be seen on both sides of the banknote.
2. Security thread
A security thread appears as a dark stripe. On it you can see a value of the banknote and the euro symbol.
3. Portrait window
Obverse
Reverse
The window near the top of the hologram becomes transparent and reveals a portrait of Europa, which is visible on both sides of the note. When the 200 euro note is tilted, the window also shows rainbow-colored lines around the large euro symbol. On the back of the banknote rainbow-colored value numerals appear in the window.
Tilt the banknote
1.Silvery stripe
The silvery stripe on the right reveals the portrait of Europa. The stripe also shows satellite hologram, the main image and the large euro symbol.
At the top of the silvery stripe euro symbols move around the number. The symbols become clearer under direct light.
2. Emerald number
The emerald number in the bottom left corner displays an effect of the light that moves up and down. The number also changes its color from emerald green to deep blue and euro symbol appear inside the number.
Additional security features
1. Microprint
In certain areas of the new 200 Euro banknote you can see some tiny letters. This microprint can be read with magnifying glass. These letters are sharp not blurred.
2.Standard UV light
Under UV light the paper itself does not glow. Small fibers embedded in the paper appear. Each fiber shows three different colors. On the front the stars of the European flag, the small circles as well as some of the large stars glow yellow. Several other areas also glow yellow. On the back a quarter of the circle in the center of the banknote glows green. The horizontal serial number and a stripe appear in red.
3. Special UV light (UV-C)
Under UV-C Light on the front the stars of the European flag and the small circles glow. The large stars and some other areas glow orange or yellow. A large euro symbol in the center becomes visible.
4. Infrared properties
On the front of the 200 euro banknote only emerald number, part of the large numeral, parts of the main image and the silvery stripe are visible. On the back besides the window, only the value numeral and the horizontal serial number are visible.
